White Nuckles
We went to the Orthodontist today.
My daughter's retainer was causing her pain.
She has her permit.
A 45 minute drive each way.
From country roads onto busy freeway.
She was quiet.
Not humming to the radio.
I was giving directions slowly and calmly.
Afraid if she sensed my nervousness,
she would lose it completely.
All is well with our sweet old Dentist.
He is short and bald with sweet kind eyes.
I can tell he loves to come to work everyday.
It's probably close to his retirement age.
He still seems to love his job,
and his patients.
We love him back.
